Workshops

Attending the monthly training sessions is mandatory for interns and mentors. Training sessions are held on the first Friday of each month from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. The last workshop on May 2nd is 2:00 pm-4:00 pm.

Interns will attend monthly training sessions with their intern cohort. Interns will be able to network and learn from interns from all disciplines in their year of the program while learning valuable information related to community college employment.

Fall and Spring training topics include an overview of  College of Marin's goals for the internship and its students and faculty. As well as how to prepare for a class (syllabus and course design), equity-based learning, culturally inclusive instruction, workshop schedule and classroom strategies. Interns will attend monthly training sessions over both the fall and spring semesters. Mentors and interns will also meet weekly to continue to review the individual goals and discipline-specific for each intern.

Fall 2024

  • Fall Flex Week-August 12th-16th: (Optional Flex Week) 
  • September 6thh: (in person) First Workshop; Orientation, Community Building & COM Community 
  • October 4th: (in person)  Nuts & Bolts of Counseling, Psych Services  and Teaching 
  • November 1st: (via Zoom)- Working with Diverse Populations. Prepare to apply for full-time positions and part-time teaching postions.  In additon, Internship possibilities.
  • December 6th: (in-person) End-of-semester celebration.Working with Diverse Populations and prepare for Spring 2025 semester.

Spring 2025

  • Spring Flex Week-January 13th-17th: (Optional Flex Week) 
  • February 7th: (in-person): Applying to the Community College Teaching and Internships  positions (Cover Letter, Resume, Equity Statement, Minimum Qualifications).
  • March 7th:(via Zoom)  Review Application Materials, discuss Diversity Statements and Teaching Demos
  • April 4th: (via Zoom)  Diversity Statements
  • May 2nd: (in person)  Mock Interviews and End of the year celebration-mandatory for all participants (please note new time 2:00 pm-4:00 pm)
